At the 2007 IADMS conference her poster on pre-pointe assessment was joint-winner of the award for the poster making "The Greatest Contribution To Dance Medicine" and continues to develop programs to educate and inspire young dancers to become the best that they can possible be. Lisa is also a qualified instructor in The Pilates Method and has had extensive personal involvement in various forms of Dance and Yoga. Throughout her professional studies and career she has continued her involvement with dance and uses her personal experience as a constant learning tool to advance her knowledge. Alexandra Darnley-Stuart - BPhty (Hons) - PhysiotherapistAlexandra graduated from James Cook University in 2011 with first class honours. She was the recipient of an academic medal and the research foundation prize for academic excellence in research for her work with The Australian Ballet on low back pain in professional ballet dancers. Alexandra also has a strong background in dance. She started dancing at the age of 3, training in the RAD syllabus in Canberra. She then went onto train at The Boston Ballet School in America before dancing with The Tulsa Ballet. Upon returning to Australia she has continued to dance as well as teach ballet and contemporary whilst attaining her physiotherapy degree. She also maintains a keen interest in pilates, yoga and fitness training and can often be seen at 6am exercising on the beach. She is now looking forward to being able to combine her passion for the arts and for helping people prevent injuries by providing quality physiotherapy services. Deborah Chen (Ba App Sc MRS-RT, Master of Physiotherapy) - PhysiotherapistDeborah is a physiotherapy masters graduate from the University of Sydney. She is trained in classical ballet (Australian Dance Assessment Program), jazz and contemporary and whilst completing both her Radiation Therapy degree and Physiotherapy degree, continued to teach ballet in the Western Suburbs where she grew up. Deborah is passionate about improving the performance of dancers, preventing injuries from occurring and keeping dancers injury free so that they can perform to their full potential and is eager to expand her knowledge about dance physiotherapy. Outside of the clinic Deborah enjoys power lifting, snowboarding and performing with her Over 18s dance troupe. Cathy JennekeCathy joined our administrative staff in 2009 and has since moved into the role of Products and Marketing Co-ordinator and primarily runs The Ballet Blog and other online subsidiaries. Cathy is also currently studying a Bachelor's Degree in Arts in Communication (Information and Media) and continues to teach dance at Santa Sabina College in Strathfield. Cathy developed a passion for dance at a young age and continues this passion in her teaching today. She has been part of several professional performance groups including the WSFM Jukebox Dancers. |
